Black Mask Mafia

Born out of the final ever Newport City Battle of the Bands, Black Mask Mafia became the one of the biggest musical acts in the world. After a riot broke out between all of the bands competing in the battle and their fans in attendance, the Newport City music scene (which had at one time been among the world’s hottest) was at a crossroads. Six members from many of the bands quit their respective outfits and, in order to align with like-minded creators, came together to form BMM.
Guitar virtuoso siblings, Eli and Lisa, of the rock band Helipad escaped the melee of the Battle with Jones, the lead singer and songwriter from the alternapunk group Insomniac. Bass player Derek of the metal band Daytime Nightmare, who was a long-time friend of Jones, in a moment of clarity, put his bass through the band’s logo on the bass drum and quit on the spot. As his former bandmate and drummer tried to knife him, Derek was saved by Mick, the drummer for punk band System Reset when Mick jumped between them and used a cymbal as a shield. On their way out of the arena, they found a traumatized piano prodigy named Seth who was the musical brains of the indiPop duo Computer Blue.
Disgusted at the violence and hatred that had erupted at the show, they decided that night to form an alliance that would use music to change their world. Convinced that too much ego and self-centeredness in music (and initially to conceal their identities from pissed of fans and former band-mates) was to blame for the riot, they donned the masks and became a gang. They would now forever be known as the Black Mask Mafia.
They are now one of the biggest bands on the planet. They are an inspiration to Charlie, Turk, and especially Bones because they have proven that not only can something great be born out of the most awful of circumstances, but also that it is possible to stand up for what you believe and change your world.
